Reverend John Engwall was born and raised in Burlington, Iowa. His family moved to Knoxville, Tennessee, where he met and, in June of 1991, married Teffanie Ann Johnson. Reverend Engwall is a 2018 graduate of Concordia Theological Seminary, Fort Wayne, Indiana, where he earned the Master of Divinity degree. Since 2018, he has been the pastor of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Aiken, South Carolina, and since 2022, the Circuit Visitor of Southeastern District Circuit 18, before being called to Immanuel Lutheran Church, Sweet Springs, Missouri. A “second career” pastor, Reverend Engwall previously served as a police officer for the city of Sevierville, Tennessee (1995-2003), and as a Sheriff’s Deputy for Knox County, Tennessee (2005-2014). He also has worked as an Emergency Medical Technician. In addition to theology, Reverend Engwall has many interests, including improving upon his semi-adequate abilities as an outdoorsman.

Judy has been married to James Teufel since May of 1975. Together, they have 2 children: Scott Teufel and Carrie Scott. Additionally, Judy has 3 step-children: Jamie Teufel; Brian Teufel and Lynlea Southards, 3 grandsons, and 6 step-granddaughters. She loves spending time with her children and their families, playing the piano, and antiquing.

Judy has been the secretary of Immanuel Lutheran since Spring of 2010. She is retired from being a Public School administrator and teacher. Judy has worked in schools for 36 years holding various jobs: day care administrator, Head Start Director, preshool owner and operator, special education teacher, kindergarten teacher, and principal/superintendent at Miami R-I.
