Immanuel Lutheran Church was established in 1878 with the help and organization of Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Emma, MO. At the church's beginning, eight members and their families organized the church and what was then a Christian day school.
As Immanuel Lutheran Church continued to grow and expand they, too, helped establish other sister congregations including Christ Lutheran Church in Liberty Township. For several decades Immanuel Lutheran continued to faithfully proclaim God's word and expand its Christian schools. Between 1919 and 1922, however, a series of fires burned the church and adjacent schools. The church had to close its school, and for two years the congregation held their services in the high school auditorium.
By 1924, the church had built a new sanctuary at its present location on the corner of Main Street and Patrick Place. In 1957, the church then expanded on the Education Building were it today holds its Sunday school classes after service.
Today, Immanuel Lutheran Church continues to faithfully carry on the mission of those who have gone before us --that is the same mission of our common Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Immanuel Lutheran Church continues to proclaim God's saving truth and His word of law and gospel to the world. We do this through our Sunday services, radio broadcasts, and online services. We pray you will join us in this mission.
